Blackpool is one of Cork's busiest northside areas — a mix of established residential streets, busy retail, heavy traffic and constant footfall around the shopping centre and valley road. For dogs, this level of stimulation can mean pulling, barking, reactivity and general overexcitement every time you step out the door. We train on your streets and routes so your dog learns to stay calm in the environment they actually live in.
The residential areas surrounding Blackpool — including parts of Mayfield, The Glen, Ballyvolane and Farranree — are densely populated with lots of on-lead dog encounters on narrow footpaths and estate roads. These close-quarter situations are a common trigger for lead reactivity and pulling. Training in your estate means your dog learns to behave in the exact situations where they currently struggle most.
The Blackpool Glen and surrounding northside walks offer good exercise options, but also plenty of distractions — other dogs, joggers, cyclists and open green spaces where recall becomes unreliable. "Let it be said from the start, we can’t recommend Lauren enough! We got a rescue dog who is amazing in so many ways, but also had some pretty tough behaviours - terrible separation anxiety, would chew up anything if left alone, pulled like mad on the leash, and had a hard time around other dogs. He clearly wanted to play, but he would get so nervous that he would frequently snap at other dogs.
From the first session, Lauren helped us make sense of everything. She connected the dots between his behaviour and what we were doing (or not doing!) and gave us clear, easy-to-follow guidance. She was always patient, made sure we understood what we were doing, and helped us get it right.
What we loved was how fun she made the training. She gave us games and exercises that not only worked, but also helped us bond more with our dog. The difference in him now is like night and day.
